Seventeen countries pool resources to open access to a wide range of technologies, services and resources in the field of atmospheric science. The ERIC decision and statutes have now been published in the Official Journal of the EU.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The creation of ACTRIS ERIC concretizes a long-term effort by several European countries to create a sustainable infrastructure to support atmospheric and climate research. With ACTRIS, the doors are open for researchers, industry and countries to access key information on the state of the atmosphere, share the best research platforms in Europe and support policy making with all the necessary scientific knowledge.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The UGR participates in this research infrastructure through the Singular Laboratory Global Atmosphere Observatory of Andalusia (AGORA) (https:\/\/atmosphere.ugr.es\/informacion\/presentacion\/agora) belonging to the Interuniversity Research Institute of the Earth System in Andalusia (IISTA) (http:\/\/www.iista.es\/) and operated by the research group in Physics of the Atmosphere (GFAT) (https:\/\/atmosphere.ugr.es\/informacion\/presentacion).<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>AGORA provides ACTRIS with an atmospheric aerosol remote sensing station and a cloud remote sensing station with vertical resolution, in addition to an in-situ atmospheric aerosol station, located on the roof of the IISTA building.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The atmospheric aerosol remote sensing station consists of a multi-wavelength lidar (laser radar), a sun\/moon photometer and various auxiliary equipment. The cloud remote sensing station consists of a polarizing cloud radar, a wind Doppler lidar, a microwave radiometer and several auxiliary equipment.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The in-situ atmospheric aerosol station includes several pieces of equipment that measure the physical and chemical properties of atmospheric aerosol by sampling the air above the station.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The result of the combination of these three stations is the most complete ACTRIS station in Spain, which allows aerosol-cloud interaction studies taking advantage of the synergies between them.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><strong>Spanish organizations participating in ACTRIS ERIC<\/strong><\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Spain through the Ministry of Science and Innovation, which pays the Spanish membership fees to ACTRIS ERIC, participates in ACTRIS with eleven research organizations, which are grouped in a Joint Research Unit, consisting of the Energy, Environmental and Technological Research Center (CIEMAT), the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the University of Granada, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center-Centro Nacional de Supercomputaci\u00f3n (BSC-CNS), the Fundaci\u00f3n de la Comunitat Valenciana Centro de Estudios Ambientales del Mediterr\u00e1neo (CEAM), the Instituto Nacional de T\u00e9cnica Aeroespacial (INTA), the University of Valladolid, the Universidad Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez de Elche, the Universitat de Val\u00e8ncia and the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya. Other organizations are collaborating and may join in the future.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The resources that Spain puts into ACTRIS ERIC are the result of investments by public administrations that, through national and regional programs, have financed research and infrastructure projects over many years. These resources will bear further fruit through the synergies created within ACTRIS ERIC. It is to be expected that, if the performance of the participating organizations is satisfactory, resources in the form of equipment and researchers, especially young researchers, will continue to arrive.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>ACTRIS National Facilities are distributed throughout the 17 ACTRIS ERIC countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Greece and the United Kingdom have expressed interest in joining at a later stage.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><strong>ACTRIS ERIC Structure<\/strong><\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>ACTRIS is structured into National Facilities, consisting of observation platforms and exploratory platforms, and Central Facilities, which are essential for the provision of high quality harmonized data, obtained both within Europe and at selected global sites, providing users with access to state-of-the-art, well-characterized and versatile facilities.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Currently, Spain contributes to the ACTRIS National Facilities with observation platforms distributed in the peninsula and the Canary Islands (three ground-based aerosol remote sensing stations, one ground-based cloud remote sensing station, seven in situ aerosol measurement stations) and with an exploratory platform (atmospheric simulation chamber). It also participates in the Central Data Centre and the Centre for Aerosol Remote Sensing Calibration (CARS). Diecisiete pa\u00edses a\u00fanan recursos para abrir el acceso a una amplia gama de tecnolog\u00edas, servicios y recursos en el campo de la ciencia atmosf\u00e9rica. La decisi\u00f3n y los estatutos del ERIC se han publicado ya en el Diario Oficial de la UE. La creaci\u00f3n de ACTRIS ERIC concreta un esfuerzo a largo plazo de varios pa\u00edses europeos por crear una infraestructura sostenible de apoyo a la investigaci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica y clim\u00e1tica. Con ACTRIS, se abren las puertas para que investigadores, industria y pa\u00edses accedan a informaci\u00f3n clave sobre el estado de la atm\u00f3sfera, compartan las mejores plataformas de investigaci\u00f3n en Europa y apoyen la elaboraci\u00f3n de pol\u00edticas con todos los conocimientos cient\u00edficos necesarios. La UGR participa en esta infraestructura de investigaci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s del Laboratorio Singular Observatorio Global de la Atm\u00f3sfera de Andaluc\u00eda (AGORA) (https:\/\/atmosphere.ugr.es\/informacion\/presentacion\/agora) perteneciente al Instituto Interuniversitario de Investigaci\u00f3n del Sistema Tierra en Andaluc\u00eda (IISTA) (http:\/\/www.iista.es\/)&nbsp;&nbsp; y operado por el grupo de investigaci\u00f3n en F\u00edsica de la Atm\u00f3sfera (GFAT) (https:\/\/atmosphere.ugr.es\/informacion\/presentacion). AGORA aporta a ACTRIS una estaci\u00f3n de teledetecci\u00f3n de aerosoles atmosf\u00e9ricos y una estaci\u00f3n de teledetecci\u00f3n de nubes con resoluci\u00f3n vertical, adem\u00e1s de una estaci\u00f3n de aerosoles atmosf\u00e9ricos in-situ, ubicadas en la cubierta del edificio del IISTA. La estaci\u00f3n de teledetecci\u00f3n de aerosoles atmosf\u00e9ricos est\u00e1 constituida por un lidar (radar l\u00e1ser) multilongitud de onda, un fot\u00f3metro solar\/lunar y varios equipos auxiliares. La estaci\u00f3n de teledetecci\u00f3n de nubes est\u00e1 constituida por un radar de nubes con polarizaci\u00f3n, un lidar Doppler de viento, un radi\u00f3metro de microondas y varios equipos auxiliares. La estaci\u00f3n in-situ de aerosoles atmosf\u00e9ricos incluye diversos equipos que miden las propiedades f\u00edsicas y qu\u00edmicas del aerosol atmosf\u00e9rico mediante muestreo del aire sobre la estaci\u00f3n. El resultado de la combinaci\u00f3n de estas tres estaciones es la estaci\u00f3n ACTRIS m\u00e1s completa de Espa\u00f1a, lo que permite estudios de interacci\u00f3n aerosol-nube aprovechando las sinergias entre ellas. Organismos espa\u00f1oles que participan en ACTRIS ERIC Espa\u00f1a a trav\u00e9s del Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovaci\u00f3n, que paga las cuotas de afiliaci\u00f3n de Espa\u00f1a a ACTRIS ERIC, participa en ACTRIS con once organismos de investigaci\u00f3n, que est\u00e1n agrupados en una Unidad Mixta de Investigaci\u00f3n, constituida por el Centro de Investigaciones Energ\u00e9ticas, Medioambientales y Tecnol\u00f3gicas (CIEMAT), el Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cient\u00edficas (CSIC), la Agencia Estatal de Meteorolog\u00eda (AEMET), la Universidad de Granada, el Barcelona Supercomputing Center-Centro Nacional de Supercomputaci\u00f3n (BSC-CNS), la Fundaci\u00f3n de la Comunitat Valenciana Centro de Estudios Ambientales del Mediterr\u00e1neo (CEAM), el Instituto Nacional de T\u00e9cnica Aeroespacial (INTA), la Universidad de Valladolid, la Universidad Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez de Elche, la Universitat de Val\u00e8ncia y la Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya. Otros organismos colaboran y podr\u00edan unirse en el futuro. Los recursos que pone Espa\u00f1a en ACTRIS ERIC son el resultado de inversiones de administraciones p\u00fablicas que, a trav\u00e9s de programas nacionales y auton\u00f3micos, han financiado proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n e infraestructura a lo largo de muchos a\u00f1os. Estos recursos dar\u00e1n a\u00fan m\u00e1s frutos por las sinergias creadas dentro de ACTRIS ERIC. Es de prever que, si el desempe\u00f1o de los organismos participantes es satisfactorio, los recursos, en forma de equipamientos e investigadores, sobre todo j\u00f3venes, sigan llegando. Las Instalaciones Nacionales de ACTRIS est\u00e1n distribuidas por los 17 pa\u00edses de ACTRIS ERIC: Alemania, Austria, B\u00e9lgica, Bulgaria, Chipre, Chequia, Dinamarca, Espa\u00f1a, Finlandia, Francia, Italia, Noruega, Pa\u00edses Bajos, Polonia, Ruman\u00eda, Suecia y Suiza. Grecia y el Reino Unido han expresado su inter\u00e9s por adherirse en fases posteriores. Estructura de ACTRIS ERIC ACTRIS se estructura en Instalaciones Nacionales, formadas por plataformas de observaci\u00f3n y plataformas exploratorias, y en Instalaciones Centrales, fundamentales para el suministro de datos armonizados de alta calidad, obtenidos tanto dentro de Europa como en emplazamientos mundiales seleccionados, proporcionando a los usuarios acceso a instalaciones punteras, bien caracterizadas y vers\u00e1tiles. Actualmente, Espa\u00f1a contribuye a las Instalaciones Nacionales de ACTRIS con plataformas de observaci\u00f3n distribuidas en la pen\u00ednsula y Canarias (tres estaciones de teledetecci\u00f3n de aerosoles desde tierra, una estaci\u00f3n de teledetecci\u00f3n de nubes desde tierra, siete estaciones de medidas de aerosoles in situ) y con una plataforma exploratoria (c\u00e1mara de simulaci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica). Asimismo, participa en la Instalaciones Centrales del Centro de Datos y del Centro de Calibraci\u00f3n de Teledetecci\u00f3n de Aerosoles (CARS).
